The Shaving Cup

Natural and New Orleans Style Shave Ice Food Truck

Service Provided: Done For You Social Media Execution

The Shaving Cup operated in 2020 in Roanoke, Virginia as a mobile food unit serving gourmet shave ice. The business has since closed.

Kick your shave ice game up a notch with homemade fruit syrup. This will be a thickener adding to your topping repertoire that is sure to impress.

Here’s what you’ll need:

1 1/2 cups of fruit (strawberries, pineapple, etc)
2 Tbsp of lemon or lime juice
3/4 cup of water
3/4 cup of sugar

Here’s the step by step fruit syrup process:

Step 1: Blend your fresh fruit using your blender or food processor.

Step 2: Pour your blended fruit into a saucepan and add the lemon/lime juice along with the water and sugar. Cook this mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally until boiling. Turn heat down to low-medium heat and let simmer for five minutes.

Step 3: Next, let your syrup cool completely before straining with a fine mesh strainer. This will filter out any residual seeds and pulp.

Your homemade fruit syrups are now ready to serve or for refrigerated storage. When you are ready to enjoy, simply pour your syrup over your ice shavings.

Brain Freeze Remedy 1:

The tongue press trick is one of the oldest brain freeze remedies in the world. It probably goes back to the early Japanese who first invented shave ice.

All you need to do is press your tongue to the roof of your mouth. This will warm that area, thus rendering your brain freeze over.

Simple and effective!

Give it a try if you get brain freeze after indulging in one of our shave ice treats this summer!

Ice cream and 🧊 shave ice are the two most popular frozen desserts that come in cup or cone form.

Wouldn’t it be great if you could have both at the same time? 🧊🍨🍦

Well, you can with sweet cream.

Shave ice stands out amongst other iced desserts for its flaky consistency. When you pour some sweet cream onto your shave ice, you are thickening your ice shavings, but they still remain rather loose and flaky.

However, the sweet cream tends to bring the ice shavings together giving it a texture closer to ice cream without losing the refreshing iciness of shave ice. Ice cream and shave ice combination complete. 🙌

For best results, mix sweet cream with flavors like vanilla, banana, strawberry cheesecake, coconut, chocolate, butterscotch, or egg custard.

These flavors are sweeter and thicker in nature.
Mixing acidic flavors with sweet cream is a no-go as the cream can curdle.

Come by and try some sweet cream on your shave ice with us at The Shaving Cup!
